When we are tightened by dolcevita – When we are tightened by dolcevita
While Croatia is shaken by a series of earthquakes, which have actualized numerous construction and political scandals, Serbia has been disturbed for weeks by the “methodology” of a famous teacher who is accused of raping his students. Abuse, insulting and belittling children is not a burden, at least not yet, it is part of the cultural milieu in this area anyway. So, earthquakes in both countries do not calm down for days, and the population is never asked – why were we silent

Abuse, insulting and belittling children is not a burden, at least not yet, it is part of the cultural milieu in this area anyway. So, earthquakes in both countries do not calm down for days, and the population has never been asked – why have we been silent?
We were silent because both Serbs and Croats have been measuring “whose is bigger” for years; they measured by day, publicly, loudly, while their lives were decided in silence and darkness. We have been taught to be silent, to believe, not to problematize authorities, to aminate, to close our eyes even for the sake of petty interests and zeal, not to hear. Left to blind leaders, we fell into the abyss. And now we ask ourselves from the abyss, not guided by the idea of purification, but by the desire to quench our thirst for curiosity. Of course, we call it all tragedies, wouldn’t we give our own lives any meaning. Unaware that everything happened, to attend by excellence a drama of absurdity in which essentially nothing will change, nor will Godot come.
In deeply disturbed value systems, we cannot expect the establishment of any kind of justice. We live in a society that has long since come out of our wrists – we have been shaken, raped, and we still believe that we have been left unscathed. Overwhelmed by sensationalism, we roll in the mud, hoping to wash up one day as we say – it is not us, it is others . We do not realize that we are others, and that others are us. We determine each other. We stumbled every time we agreed to compromises for personal gain, when we didn’t say shame on you or shame on us either, when we gave or took bribes, when we joined the party saying that it had to, when we kept silent about the counter who humiliated the helpless, when we kept silent to a director who is incompetent and arrogant, when we were paid for reluctance, when we wrote written assignments to others , when we declared the untalented to be top artists, when we winked and caressed each other like a wink in order to get a job / role / apartment, when candidates from the school of the famous teacher-trapper were admitted to the entrance exam, when houses destroyed in the earthquake were built improperly. And now we are wondering if we would not retroactively wash our conscience, and after being washed like that, we would continue to measure “whose is bigger”.
If a question determines a person, it will be that we are a question – why were we silent , still immersed in the past. The valid question should be – why will we remain silent?
And finally two jokes.
Serbs and a Croat are driving in a car on a potholed road full of potholes. Serbs are lamenting, complaining about corruption, bad standards, crime, hard life, lack of culture, they say that it is far better in Croatia – they remind Croats of the far-famed Croatian culture. A policeman arrives, investigates in the middle of the road, in violation of all regulations, stops the vehicle and asks:
– Do you have anything to report?
Confused, the Serbs looked at each other and said unanimously:
– Nothing, just one Croat.
Croats and a Serb are driving in a car on a potholed road full of potholes. Croats lament, complain about corruption, poor standard, crime, hard life, lack of culture, say that vaccination has started in Serbia, Serbs can choose between four vaccines, envy them for being leaders in the region – remind Serbs of far-famed Serbian heroism .
